Neuro Insight is led by Nigel Humphrey, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, with over 27 years of clinical experience working in neurodevelopment, trauma, and mental health.
Throughout his career, Nigel has worked with both children and adults, supporting individuals with neurodivergent profiles, complex developmental histories, and psychological trauma. His work is grounded in the belief that people make sense when their developmental story is understood.
Neuro Insight was created to provide thoughtful, thorough, and compassionate psychological assessment and therapy, helping individuals, families, and professionals gain clarity and move forward with confidence.
Nigel has extensive experience assessing and supporting individuals with:
He has particular expertise in presentations where neurodevelopmental differences and trauma overlap, and in helping individuals understand how early experiences, relationships, and neurodevelopment interact across the lifespan.
Rather than focusing only on diagnosis, Nigel’s work emphasises formulation, understanding, and practical recommendations that support meaningful change.
Nigel’s clinical approach is informed by decades of experience working with individuals whose development has been shaped by adversity, disruption, and neurodevelopmental differences.
He integrates:
This allows assessments to move beyond symptoms toward a whole-person understanding of strengths, needs, and development over time.
Nigel is an accredited EMDR practitioner, trained in both trauma-focused EMDR and attachment-focused EMDR.
EMDR therapy can help individuals process traumatic memories, reduce emotional distress, and develop greater stability and resilience. Nigel integrates EMDR within a safe, paced, and relational therapeutic framework, particularly when working with developmental trauma and attachment-related difficulties.
Nigel is known for a calm, thoughtful, and collaborative approach to assessment and therapy. He recognises that seeking psychological support can feel daunting, and aims to create a space where people feel understood, respected, and supported.
Assessments are designed to provide:
Whether someone is seeking an autism or ADHD assessment, support following trauma, or professional consultation, the aim is always the same — to help people make sense of their experiences and move forward with confidence.
